The Times is a British center-right daily newspaper founded in 1785 by John Walter as the London Daily Universal Register. It was the first newspaper to be printed on a steam press in 1814. The Times is close to the Conservatives, although it advocates a coalition with the Liberal Democrats. The Times has long been regarded as a high quality newspaper with skilled journalists and columnists.
